Lots of firsts…

So we spent Memorial Day weekend experiencing lots of firsts, first trip to the pool for the season (and ever for Em!), first “real” food (Puffs) for Emilie and Emilie’s first real crawl. That’s right… we are now mobile. Still a bit wobbly and not always going in the right direction but we are definitely now a  family with 2 troublemakers!

Lily had a big first too… her first lie! After begging for months, we finally let her have a piece of gum (with strict orders that it does not go in her tummy!). So less than one minute later the gum was of course nowhere to be seen so the conversation goes like this:

Me: Lily, where is the gum?

Lily: (lips pressed tightly) In my mouth.

Me: Are you sure?

Lily: (emphatic nod)

Me: Can you show me the gum?

Lily: (finger to lips as she taps her mouth to show she is thinking- I am not kidding!) Hmmm… I think the gum wanted to play hide and seek.

Me: Lily, did you swallow the gum?

Lily: No, it is just hiding.

Me: Lily, is the gum in your tummy?

Lily: (Panic sets in as she realizes I am on to her) Mommy I had to swallow it. My tummy hurts and the gum makes me feel better. See? (pointing to belly) My tummy is all better now. Thank you for the gum, Mommy!

She proceeds to walk away, thinking she won… and I made the decision that I will need to start saving now for all of her future teachers “thank you” presents.

First ER Visit

Little bit of skin glue and we all survived…

How did she do it? Well, after 2 hours of climbing, spinning and causing all kinds of trouble… she fell while doing nothing but standing!

Teething…

I clearly remember asking the pediatrician how I would know when Lily was going to start teething… seems like such a crazy question now.

The good news: Emilie is a much happier teether than she has been in month pasts. The bad news: All of her pictures look like this…

Twice is nice…

So, you would think having been there, done that… watching the second child reach milestones would seem less exciting. But it surely has not been the case in our family. Em started sitting up on her own (sitting up from a laying position) and that led to her first attempts to really crawl today… Oh man, we are in for it now!

Hope to get some new pics and video soon, but in the meantime, enjoy a little blast from the past.

Happy Mother’s Day!

I may be biased (ok… I am REALLY biased!) but these girls are too cute…
